One of Canowindra’s most well known couples, Richard and Cheryl Kinsela have recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party at the Canowindra Services Club.

Even though their anniversary was February 10, a surprise party was organised by the couple’s four children on the Easter long weekend.

“It was a just big family and friends get together, we caught up with a lot of people we haven’t caught up with for quite a few years,” Cheryl said.

“I had all my grandchildren and all of my children together.”

“Our children arranged our 50th wedding anniversary party because it was last month and we were away and all of the kids couldn’t get together then.

“They organised it for this Easter weekend and we didn’t know about it, it was a lovely surprise.”

The couple were married on February 10, 1968 in Parkes and have four children and eight grandchildren.

“We had about 80 people at our wedding and we were married at Parkes and we had the reception at the Parkes Golf Club,” Cheryl said.

“Richard and I, we’ve got the CRT business here in Canowindra and we also own Canowindra Real Estate, we’re still working but we are looking at winding down.”

Richard has lived in Canowindra his whole life and Cheryl was originally from Parkes.

“Richard was born here in Canowindra, I come from Parkes and we’ve lived here for 50 years.”
