Mr Donato presented the $15,000 cheque to golf club president Matt Devlin and committee member Barry Rue, after the club successfully entered an application through the Community Building Program last August.
The funds are covering the cost of the newly constructed roof on the back veranda.
“It was all tin and perspex. You’d nearly cook yourself under there every Sunday. It wasn’t a pleasure to sit under,” president Matt Devlin said.
“Volunteers pulled [the roof] off, washed it and painted it. We had a big working bee here. Paul McKenzie one of our local builders came in and donated some of his time, we gave him a hand and put it all up.”
The previous roof was about 20 years old.
Mr Donato showed off his driving technique with three swings from the first tee.
Surrounded by cameras, Mr Donato blasted two down the fairway before topping the last into the trees.
The club has about 350 members and nine holes with 18 different tee offs.
The men play competition on Sundays and the women play competition on Wednesdays.
