Newcrest Mining's Cadia Valley Operations is in the final stages of preparations for its Community Open Day this weekend, Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Cadia General Manager, Peter Sharpe, said this years' Open Day will provide visitors with a double treat.
"For the first time, members of the public will have the opportunity to tour the Blayney Dewatering Facility - the final stage in our ore processing, located in Blayney," Mr Sharpe said.
"We are also allowing the public to step underground - visitors will be able to take a short walking tour underground at our Ridgeway Underground Mine*.
"Never before have we been able to provide the community with this real-life experience."
Buses will depart from Blayney Shire Community Centre every 10 minutes between 8:30-2:30pm, travel to the mine and return to Blayney.
Features of the tour will include:
- Expansive machinery display showcasing the site's latest machinery from surface and underground. Heavy vehicle workshop in action
- Cadia's progressive rehabilitation and site tailings storage facilities. Panoramic views of the Cadia Open Pit
- Exclusive underground access to Ridgeway underground mine.
Specific buses for the Blayney Dewatering Facility will leave every half hour between 10:30am-12:30pm.
This tour is separate to the mine tour and will take approximately 45 minutess.
The Blayney Shire Community Centre will also house the Cadia Interactive Display Centre, where the community can learn more about Cadia's operations.
Food stalls, a free jumping castle and face painting and mining equipment will also be available at Blayney.
There are only limited tickets remaining - they are available for a gold coin donation online at www.cadiaopenday.com.au or in person at the Orange Visitor Information Centre, or Blayney Shire Council offices.
All funds raised from the event will be matched dollar for Dollar by Newcrest and will be donated to CanAssist Blayney.
A reminder that all visitors must abide by a zero alcohol and drug limit and must wear long trousers, enclosed shoes and a sleeved shirt.
