Robertson Park shift proves a winner for cyclists at Newcrest Challenge

Shifting the hub of the Newcrest Orange Challenge bike ride to Robertson Park from the velodrome has been heralded a winning move.

Nearly 1500 riders competed in the the event across three distances on Sunday before finishing with activities in the centre of town.

Event organiser Rebecca Lane said it had helped showcase the city.

"We've been really well supported by the local community," she said.

The ride also passed through Canowindra, with cyclists who were completing the 70 km journey finishing their ride in town, while it served as the starting point for the 100 km ride as well as a "super rest stop" for riders completing the 170 km challenge.
