Sean Kenneth Ovington was before the court charged with five counts of contravening an AVO.
According to police facts Ovington was subject to two separate AVOs for persons in need of protection (PINOP) current until January 2020 and December 2020.
Ovington breached these orders by coming in to the township of Canowindra on four separate occasions throughout April.
On April 2, he attempted to gain access to a residence in Waddell Street. A witness saw him and gave a neighbour $20 to take him to Cowra.
On April 5, he attended the residence of PINOP asking for a shower and to call police and hand himself in. The PINOP refused and gave Ovington 50 cents to use a payphone around the corner.
On April 11, during a search for Ovington at numerous residences, police found him hiding under a bed. He told police he had, "nowhere else to go".
Finally on April 18, police received an anonymous phone call saying Ovington was sighted outside a residence in Tilga Street. Police arrived and arrested Ovington, who admitted he knew there was an AVO preventing him from being in Canowindra.
Ovington's solicitor told the court his client's constant breaches were due to his homelessness and his lack of education. In sentencing Ovington, Magistrate Michael O'Brien, said he has a long history for a man his age.
"The pages of his criminal history are catching up to his age rapidly," he said.
"It's a tragedy to see such a young man facing the ordeal of full time custody. What a waste of a life, get your act together."
