My Community Project program is all about local ideas, local projects and local decisions.
Three Canowindra projects are seeking funding, one for a new display shed at the showground, another for lighting at Tom Clyburn Oval and another for new cricket nets at Canowindra Public School.
The project for a new display shed at the showground would make the grounds safer and continue with the ground improvements.
Proposers of the project believe the shed will provide a safe new facility which will help attract visitors to the Canowindra area, going towards a bright new display shed for local events i.e. Canowindra Show.
Local contractors and community volunteer labour would be used for construction of the display shed which would replace the existing Colby and Bird Pavilion at the showground.
Lighting up Tom Clyburn Oval proposes the installation of light towers at the oval to supply first class lighting to the complex.
It will enable evening games of sport including rugby league, rugby union and touch football as well as the opportunity to host regional sporting events at night.

Lighting would also make the oval suitable for marquee community events including popular food and wine events, night markets, fundraisers and international events such as the Canowindra International Balloon challenge.
It would also gives the opportunity to hold existing events later into the evening.
The project would be carried out by Cabonne Council if approved.
The proposed new cricket nets at Canowindra Public would be used by all students in the community, either during school or for afternoon practice sessions helping promote an active lifestyle for everyone to enjoy.
Canowindra Public School cricket nets are located on the grounds of the local public school. The other local primary school is located directly across the road. Students from both schools will benefit from the upgrade. Our students' skills will improve and more children will want participate in cricket and be active.
The project would be carried out by a local contractors from Canowindra, Cudal and Orange and will be completed before the 2019/2020 season begins.
The projects at the showground and Tom Clyburn Oval are both seeking $200,000 in funding. The cricket nets require $38,280 in funding.
NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said: "We asked people to think about their community needs, develop that idea with a local sponsor organisation such as a school or charity and then tell us how funding can help turn their concept into reality".
"I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to apply and seek out a sponsor and am looking forward to the voting stage now that applications have closed.
