National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science and technology aimed at encouraging an interest in science pursuits among the general public.
Running each year in August, it features more than 1000 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres.
As part of science week "SCINEMA" Film Festival" will be held at the Canowindra CWA Hall on August 8.
The festival is a collection of award-winning short science films with free entry.

Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub is a community group charged with convening science engagement experiences in our local area.
In Science Week 2019 the Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub is staging five events in a number of venues across the region backed by Inspiring Australia which supports regional Science Hubs in delivering Science Week events with funding provided by the NSW Government and the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.
During Ecologies in the Landscape at the Corridor Project near Darbys Falls on Sunday, August 18 local scientists and tutors from the National Art School will co-facilitate a weekend field-trip session identifying the health of soil, plant, and river.
Creative workshops will accompany these presentations.
Legendary Darbys Falls astronomer Mark Monk and local DJ Craig Lawler, AKA the Professor, team up, presenting in collaboration for the Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub, an evening of stargazing and music from 7pm on August 24.
Held at the Darby Falls Observatory, 23 Observatory Road, Darbys Falls this event has been delayed to the week after Science Week to optimize viewing conditions as Science Week coincides with a full moon. Bring warm clothes.
On Sunday August 18, 2019, from 10am to 4pm, there will be a botanical illustration and flower press making workshop for under 18s on the banks of the Lachlan River at the CORRIDOR project, 2997 Darbys Falls Road, Wyangala.
Facilitated by the CORRIDOR project's Project Manager, Phoebe Cowdery, participants will harvest endemic grasses and plants for pressing in their own self-made botanical press and, also be tutored in botanical illustration by renowned artist, Angus Fisher.
