Earlier this month I issued a Community Recognition Statement in Parliament to recognise the Country Women's Association Central Western Group on their 94th Annual Conference, hosted by the CWA Cudal Branch of Saturday 12th October.
It is a testament to the unity and strength of the Central Western Group that it has continued and flourished for 94 years, my wholehearted thanks goes to the dedication and efforts of the members.
Holding the Government Accountable
As many are aware, the NSW Liberal National Government is well in arrears in its obligated payments to rural and regional NSW infrastructure under the Government's RESART NSW initiative, to the tune of billions of taxpayer dollars.
This initiative contained clear legislative requirements that 30 per cent of this fund would be paid towards rural and regional NSW infrastructure projects, yet only 19.6 per cent has been directed to the bush since the fund's inception by this Government in 2011.
I've made speeches in Parliament recently calling on the Berejiklian Barilaro Government to immediately deliver the outstanding funds to rural and regional infrastructure projects as promised and legislated.
Unfortunately for them, they will keep hearing from me until it happens.
Taxing Times
In my last column I mentioned the Government's negligent treatment of taxi owners and the decimation of their industry brought about by Point to Point transport reforms, which were implemented without compensation for the financial losses subsequently incurred.
As a result, many of these small business owners have no choice but to work well beyond their retirement years.
After moving a 10,000 signature petition in NSW Parliament last month that was cut short due to the Transport Minister prioritising a plane trip, I issued a Private Members Statement in Parliament earlier this month to condemn the Government for their blatant disinterest in the economic losses and mental strain of these hard working small business owners.
In my statement I said that it's time for the Government to swallow its pride, accept responsibility and immediately offer a buy back for the amount of pre-reform plate value as compensation.
Whether it's plane trips or any other excuse for the Government's appalling behaviour, I will not stop fighting until this is delivered.
