"Movember" over the years has become the month to recognize Men's Health, and Canowindra along with Eugowra and Cargo would like to provide support and assist in making information available to the general public.
Canowindra Business and Progress Association member, Jenny Weaver, said the community knows the effect that the drought is having on our farmers, small towns and villages.
"It's our husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, uncles and friends who neglect their health with the "she'll be right mate" attitude and we must urge them to seek a medical opinion," she said.
"Mental Health, Prostate Cancer, Testicular Cancer, Melanoma plus other ailments, are all serious illnesses and we must encourage our menfolk to visit their health practitioner and get checked out, this is essential for their family's peace of mind and for the community who value them.
"So Guys, in the case of serious illness it is vital to be diagnosed early, so a full recovery is the outcome.
"We are asking Shops in Canowindra, Eugowra and Cargo to decorate their windows in blue to support this worthwhile cause," she said.
Mrs Weaver said a Movember challenge had also been laid down to Mayor Kevin Beatty by the Oberon Mayor, to see which Council area can raise the most money for Men's Health Awareness, with Oberon aiming to raise $5,000 plus.
"There will be donation boxes around the town throughout the week, so if you have any small change you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, please feel free to do so," she said.
"So come on Canowindra, Eugowra and Cargo support our menfolk, and spread the blue message across your areas for Men's Health. This event is proudly supported by Cabonne Council.
"Don't forget that the week will be culminating in the Sparkling and Festive Christmas in Canowindra shopping night on November 23 finishing at 7pm.
"Please spare a thought for all the people affected by the damaging fires burning throughout NSW this week, our support will be essential in the months to come."
