The walk will pass arrive in Canowindra on March 12 after leaving Cargo Inn at 12 noon.
The Cargo to Grenfell (C2G) is a 96km fundraiser walk which takes place over three days on the second week of March between the two regional towns of Cargo and Grenfell.
You can register at https://www.c2gwalk.com/
The walk is an initiative which was created with the purpose of assisting people suffering with mental health related issues through a community driven environment dedicated to raising money and awareness.
C2G first began in 2017 when a group of 10 enthusiastic participants took part in a "trial walk".
The event was a success and it was decided that the C2G was going to continue as an annual event.
In 2018, the event was an even bigger success, exceeding all organisers goals and expectations... The dream was alive.
The objective for 2019 was to grow in participation and impact and more than $30,000 was raised!
Organisers Sarah Knowles and Toby Barons said registrations will be kept open right up until the day before the walk.
"We are encouraging as many people as we can to get involved," Toby said.
"So far we have 28 registrations with people coming to participate from as far as Sydney."
Toby said the beneficiary for 2020 is Rural and Remote Mental Health.
Rural and Remote Mental Health develops, tailors and implements mental health awareness, prevention and intervention programs Australia-wide, with three key programs culturally tailored for rural and remote communities.
"Of course we'd like to match what we raised last year but it's been very slow," he said.
"We are finding it difficult with all that has been going on with the drought and the fires, but we'd like everyone to know that what is raised will be directed back into the local region in the form of mental health workshops.
"The workshops will be held in local areas for our local communities."
A representative from Rural and Remote Mental Health will be present on the first day of the walk.
From July 2019, the C2G Walk was registered as a company with NFP status, which allows it to grow and ultimately help more people affected by mental health issues such as Anxiety, Depression and Suicide.
