STUD interest drove the 10th annual Ayr Park Murray Grey and Angus on-property production sale to a $10,500 top last Thursday at Woodstock.

Annika Whale of Double A Cattle Company, Cowra, picked up the $10,500 high-selling Murray Grey bull, Ayr Park Quincey Q11.
A son of Ayr Park Legend L31 and out of the Ayr Park Robbie J46 female, he was suitable for heifers boasting a calving ease figure (+2.4) in the top 10 per cent of the breed and a birthweight figure of +2.3 that sat him top 20pc.
The bull's carcase estimated breeding values (EBVs) were also a highlight, ranking him top 5pc for rib and rump fat, and top 10pc for intramuscular fat.
There was a full clearance of 12 Murray Grey bulls, with a sale top price of $10,500 and average of $6166 achieved.
In the breakdown nine bulls aged 17 to 24 months averaged $5500 while three yearlings averaged $4333 and topped at $5500 for Ayr Park Quaser Q34 purchased by Ray Doak, Tillinga Murray Greys.
The first Ayr Park Angus bulls were sought after, averaging $6750 and topping at $7500, for Ayr Park Capitalist P4 purchased by David Tiffney, Hazelgrove. The 22-month-old was a son of LD Capitalist 316 and out of KO Dream M42. He weighed 892kg with great phenotype and docility.
In the Murray Grey females a $5000 top was reached with pregnancy-tested-in-calf (PTIC) females averaging $3600 and unjoined heifers averaging $2375.
Ayr Park Antoinette P2 was the top-priced female purchased for $5000 by Maefair Murray Greys, Marrar.
By Ayr Park Landline L63 and out of Ayr Park Antoinette J66, she sold PTIC to Ayr Park Nevada N31. Maefair stud also purchased two younger heifers, to average $3500 across their selections.
Another volume buyer was John Gerathy of Errowanbang Murray Greys, Errowanbang, who purchased two bulls for a $4250 average, and one PTIC heifer for $3000.
Selling agents were Bowyer and Livermore with Nick Fogarty as the auctioneer.
