The new pipeline, known as Trunk Main "K", replaces a 74-year-old trunk main which has served the township and rural consumers of Grenfell for a long period of time.
Chairman of CTW, Cr David Somervaille said the project had been in the pipeline for many years.
"The completion of this significant CTW capital works project, delivered by CTW staff and fully funded by CTW over a four year period, has been a tremendous effort," Cr Somervaille said.
"Due to competing funding priorities, this replacement pipeline project has been in CTW's long term financial plan for over a decade, so it is now fantastic to see it come to fruition."
General Manager of CTW, Gavin Rhodes, said the increased pipe size will improve flow.
"This project, with its increased pipe sizing, will allow the lower end of our supply network to be managed more reliably and efficiently," he said.
"We have increased the pipe size from 200mm to 300mm enabling a substantial improvement in volumetric flow, especially during peak demand periods.
"I would like to thank the CTW councillors for their support, and acknowledge the efforts of CTW's directors, managers, staff and local contractors in delivering this important project.
"I would also like to thank the many rural property owners of which the pipeline traverses for their understanding and willingness to work in collaboration with CTW during the installation of the pipeline."
"This replacement pipeline will ensure the township of Grenfell and surrounding rural consumers has reliable water supply infrastructure in place for itself as well as for growth over the next 80 years," CTW's Director Operations and Technical Services, Noel Wellham said.
The new Trunk Main K 39km pipeline services approximately 3,000 consumers in the township of Grenfell, including rural consumers along the main.
