Watch the moment a roof comes down inside the Penrith Homeco shopping centre on December 7, 2021

Severe thunderstorms have battered parts of the east coast and interior of NSW, bringing large hailstones, and heavy downpours big enough to bring down the roof of a shopping complex.

In Penrith on Tuesday evening, the roof of a Homeco store collapsed under the weight of the sudden heavy rain. It's understood the city received upwards of 15mm of rainfall within a few minutes.
