Watch the eruption of Mt Semeru on the island of Java, Indonesia

Indonesia's Mt Semeru volcano has erupted another three times over the past 24 hours, after it first buried villages at its base on the weekend.

The nation's Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation is warning that there will be further hot gas, ash, and rock flows around the island of Java.

At least 27 people are missing while 34 have been counted among the dead. Rescuers have temporarily abandoned the search efforts due to the volcano's instability.
