Sixty young riders, accompanied by their families, travelled from all over the Central West and as far as Jindabyne, Cobar and Corowa, to attend.
Saturday's Introduction to Dressage was an idea formulated by CPC Member, Rianna Reeves and with the help of her coach, Megan Bryant, they planned the day around educating younger and less experienced pony club riders by having coaches assist with teaching basic dressage skills, explaining how the tests are judged and giving them tips to improve their scores for the following day's competition.
Sunday's competition was kindly sponsored by AgWork Services and Stockfeed in Cowra and saw 114 dressage tests ridden across four arenas.
CPC President, Tamara Pearce, said "the feedback from the weekend was so positive from the parents, judge's and volunteer's. It was so wonderful to see the next generation of equestrians pursuing their dreams, learning, and having a fun weekend of riding with their friends."
Canowindra Pony Club hopes to build on the success of the weekend, with bigger and better plans already being discussed for 2023.
