Following the recent awarding of the design and construction tender, the project is set to commence with on-site works expected to begin in mid-April.
Deputy General Manager of Cabonne Infrastructure, Matthew Christensen, provided updates on the project's progress, stating, "the project status is on track".
Mr Christensen highlighted the ongoing process of awaiting approval from Transport for NSW regarding the recommended contractor.
He emphasised the council's focus on enhancing the bridge's design to mitigate safety risks associated with its current structure.
The tender for the project was granted to Murray Construction Pty Ltd during the November 2023 Council meeting, marking a significant milestone in the region's infrastructure development efforts.
Transport for NSW later endorsed the project in December 2023, facilitating the approval process for the commencement of the Nyrang Creek Bridge replacement.
Scheduled to unfold over approximately six months, the reconstruction project aims to address the critical need for a new Nyrang Creek Bridge, which washed out in November 2021.
On-site works will commence in mid-April 2024, following an initial phase focused on off-site activities.
During the first 13 weeks of the program, off-site activities will include finalizing detailed designs and pre-casting bridge components, laying the groundwork for a smooth transition to on-site operations.
The on-site phase will encompass the actual reconstruction of the bridge, realignment of the approaching road pavement, and the decommissioning of temporary side access roads upon completion.
Funding for the project has been secured through the NSW Government's Essential Public Asset Reconstruction Works initiative, underscoring the government's commitment to bolstering critical infrastructure in the region.
