This initiative is part of a comprehensive $5.5 million revitalisation plan for the Age of Fishes Museum.
The ambitious yet currently unfunded plan hinges on securing government grants.
Local councillor Jenny Weaver has been a vocal advocate for governmental support, underscoring the international renown of the site and the museum's persistent efforts to secure funding over the years.
Rebecca Johnson, leading the Community and Economy department in Cabonne, underscored the project's pivotal importance for the local community and economy.
She emphasised ongoing endeavours to secure grant funding to materialize the envisioned plan.
The Age of Fishes Museum stands out for its exceptional fossil collection dating back to the Devonian period, presenting a distinctive opportunity for Canowindra businesses to capitalize on increased visitor attraction.
Councillor Andrew Pull expressed his enthusiasm for the concept plan at the general meeting, stating, "I think it's a terrific job on the concept plan and love to see that come up".
Councillor Andrew Rawson highlighted the potential for alternative funding sources, suggesting, "there is likely to be other funding sources that are quite specific too museums or even geological things that might exist out there that are not in the normal realms of things that we'd looked for".
He further suggested exploring funds available through institutions like the Australian Museum.
Councillor Weaver commended the proposal, stating, "I would just like to acknowledge that this is a terrific report".
She expressed hope for the success of the endeavour and acknowledged the diligent efforts of individuals and organisations involved, including Rebecca Johnson, Cox's Architects, and the Australian Museum.
She added, "the pressure has been on at times but she's [Rebecca Jognson] very good and she has handled it very well".
"I just hope it's a success," Councillor Weaver said.
