Tigresses surprise in challenge

Going into the challenge coach Andrew Pull was conservative about his expectations but found his side contesting a semi final against eventual winners the Mudgee Dragons after an early round 20-0 win over Orange United and a four all draw with Peak Hill.

These results put them into the semi finals and a match they arguably should have won.

The young Tigresses created more scoring opportunities then their much more fancied rivals but were unable to convert their chances into points, the Dragons crossing late in the second half to score a 4-0 win.

"Today is about putting female athletes on a pedestal," tournament organiser Andrew Pull said.

"I have no doubt you did that today with some fantastic displays of athleticism," he told the players at Sunday's presentation ceremony.

Full of praise for his owner Tigresses Pull reminded his players after their semi final effort "they've beaten everybody by 20 points".

"We probably should have won, it was a really good effort. Well done team".

Mudgee's India Draper was chosen as the player of the day by the Woodbridge Cup representative selectors after leading her side to a 12-0 win over the Young Cherrypickers in Sunday's final.

The Dragons made their way to the semi finals and eventual final with big wins over CSU 20-0, Grenfell 18-0 and Cargo 30-0.
