Canowindra won the toss and elected to bat with dangerous opener Hugh Breen continuing his great form of late, getting the home team off to a solid start scoring 40 before being caught.
Breen's innings included three sixes and three fours.
First drop Brendan Traves found himself at the crease early after Mitch Stanley skied a shot.
Traves kept the score ticking over rapidly, with some brilliant shots which included 10 fours and one six, before he was dismissed bowled by Joe Clayton for 64.
Canowindra were looking to build a big total at 4 for 100 at the 17 over mark but things suddenly went south and the home team lost the last six wickets for just 29 runs to be all out for 129 in the 29th over.
Country veteran Joe Clayton showed why he continues to be one of the premier bowlers in the competition taking 4 for 13 from six overs.
Country could have restricted the home teams total further, had they not dropped several catching opportunities throughout Canowindra's innings.
James Brazier and Andrew Heath got the visitors off to a steady start, Brazier making 11 before being dismissed.
Premier batsman Nigel Brazier joining Heath at the crease and they both looked comfortable when Brazier was suddenly trapped LBW by Tyler Burn for 19.
After Brazier's dismissal, Country's normally strong middle order collapsed with two ducks and they were struggling at 4 for 41.
A 50 run partnership between Heath and Jock Haynes got Country back into the match at 4 for 90 at the 31st over.
However, two quick wickets of Haynes for 15 and Heath for 40 put the pressure back on Country at 6 for 95 needing 35 runs with 6 overs remaining.
Some tight bowling and great catches saw Country fall agonisingly six runs short of victory after 40 overs, nine wickets down.
Nick Traves the best bowler for Canowindra taking 4 for 28 from 10 overs, Tyler Burn 3 for 17 and Kaiden Cole 2 for 41 from 10 overs. Man of the match Brendan Traves almost impossible to score off with a miserly 0 for 7 from his 5 overs.
