Why not try some of Australia's wackiest and most thrill-seeking dining adventures set in beautiful landscapes.
From Uluru to the Yarra Valley, inside the belly of a zoo to hanging from a cliff face, there's a world of culinary adventures to be enjoyed in country Australia.
Tali Wiru at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, NT
It's not cheap but a night spent with friends, dining under the stars of the southern desert sky is well worth the $440 per person price tag.
Tali Wiru, meaning "beautiful dune" in local Anangu language, is an outdoor dining experience with staggering views over Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
But a warning: the four-course dinner featuring yellowtail kingfish with yuzu pearls, fermented quandong salsa, scampi caviar and desert lime may be so good that it distracts from the views.
Diners can expect a menu where native ingredients are expertly prepared. From pickled muntries, sea grapes and beach succulents to desert honey mousse and kakadu plum compote.
All courses are paired with premium Australian wines.
The dining experience, which is not open to those 15 years or younger, takes around four hours and fifteen minutes. It's available from April 1 to October 15.
Jamala Wildlife Lodge Canberra, ACT
Even the most travelled culinary tourists likely haven't experienced anything similar to eating at the Jamala Wildlife Lodge in Canberra.
Imagine tucking into a roasted rack of lamb, served medium rare, with crushed spring peas and confit garlic potatoes while nature's fiercest predators watch.
Guests settle into their pre-dinner drinks on the zoo's terrace or in their "rainforest cave" where lions and hyenas, behind a window, sidle up beside diners.
The wildlife lodge serves a four-course menu paired with Champagne to start, followed by a curated selection of Australian wines.
Cliff Picnics at Mt Buffalo, VIC
High wire dining in Victoria's Alpine National Park will certainly be a meal to remember, once the panic abates. This one's not for acrophobes.
The Bright Adventure Company technicians help diners abseil down a rock face until they reach an intimate picnic for two susended 300 metres above the ground.
Diners catch the fresh breeze overlooking the vast valley floor and gaze out at majestic views from Mount Buffalo while snacking on locally sourced food from the hamper.
Bookings for two people are welcomed for a two and a half hour dining experience costing $449 for two people.
Balgownie Estate, VIC
The Yarra Valley is one of Australia's most loved and respected wine regions but not many visitors have seen the lovingly-tended vines from above.
Balgownie Estate and Global Ballooning Australia have teamed up to create a memorable high-flying dining experience over the vines as the sun rises.
A morning balloon adventure ends with a glass of Champagne and a buffet breakfast for $469 per person.
Transfers returning to Melbourne are available.
