Run by Regional Development Australia Central West the program was first introduced in 2020 with the aim of providing a unique mentoring experience to youth leaders by connecting them with community champions.
Students from Orange High, James Sheahan Catholic High and Kinross Wolaroi School have also been selected to take part.
The program runs over the course of the school year in the Orange, Blayney, and Cabonne local government areas, and is open to all Year 11 students in these regions.
Ten students will take part and will be paired with a mentor from various sectors of the community.
This year's mentors are:
- Amy van de Ven, Franchisee of Quest Orange
- Andrew Gee MP, Federal Member for Calare
- Amy Gormly, General Manager Central NSW Business HQ
- Charles Henley, Solicitor Blackwell Short Lawyers
- Joshua Devitt, Chief Engineer Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia and Committee member RDA Central West
- Peita Mages, Director Clever Cookie Academy
- Ben Chiarella, Operations Manager Virtual Rural Generalist Service Western NSW Local Health District
- Dr Jo Braid, the Burnout Recovery Doctor
- Katie Baddock, Owner/Managing Director Groundstone Pty Ltd
- Dr Gabi Staniforth, General Practitioner
Through the program, participating students are presented with numerous opportunities and experiences that enable them to connect with community leaders in a way they never have before.
A series of key events are planned throughout the year, and students and mentors also have the flexibility to arrange their own meetings and activities.
