Another Tigers win

"It's a long way to go," Lawrence said after the Tigers added to their impressive start to the 2024 season with an emphatic 50-0 win over the Blayney Bears at Tom Clyburn Oval on Sunday.

The home side's points came via a try and five conversions from Joe Treasure, doubles to Josh Cooney, Nathan Barlow and Andrew Bennett and further tries to Ky O'Byrne, Andrew Bennett, John Taulaga and Nathan Whatman.

Averaging just over 40 points a game so far the Tigers have been restricting their opponents to 7.6 points a game, defence being something that Lawrence says is coming off the back of fitness.

"It's not something we've been doing a lot of at training, I think its just coming down to our fitness at the moment," Lawrence said.

"I was pretty impressed at the weekend being able to hold Blayney to nil. We did have to defend our line quite a bit," he said.

While Canowindra, Cowra and Trundle sit in the top three spots on the points table Lawrence says the competition isn't a three-way battle for Woodbridge Cup honours.

He believes the chances of Manildra and Oberon also taking out the 2024 title can't be discounted.

"It's early days, we've only played five games, we're not getting ahead of ourselves, there is still a long way to go," Lawrence said.

"It's a lot closer than a lot of people realise. Eugowra were beating Cowra until Cowra came back for the win."

The Tigers, he explained, rested players last weekend with a "few niggling injuries" who will enjoy the benefit of another week off with the rep round this weekend.

"We've got a good squad, which you need," he said, "you need 20 players available each week which means some might miss out to give others an opportunity".
