The match finished two tries apiece with the boot of the Yeoval kicker ultimately making the difference with a successful conversion and penalty giving the visitors a 15-14 win.
Coach Tom Roth said after the match "If you'd seen us playing you'd think we were winning, we just fell down at their line."
With the Pythons fighting hard, and individual solid performances from Cayless 'Boof' Dunn and an 'unreal' effort from Mick Howarth, they were unable in the end to close the one point gap.
Points for the Pythons came from two conversions to Dan Madden from tries scored by Tye Ashe and Dylan Slattery.
"I'm grateful for the effort," said Roth, with the team working well together in spite of the close loss.
"Discipline was a lot better," he said.
