Known for its cold, wet conditions, this year's Rural Cup enjoyed some of the best weather in recent memory.
After their victory over Oberon in Term 1, the Canowindra team faced a tough challenge against Molong. The first session ended in a tie, with both teams scoring 45 points.
Canowindra secured early wins in year 7 tee ball, opens table tennis, and open girls' volleyball.
Session two saw Canowindra take the lead, winning all chess fixtures and the year 7 super quiz, bringing the score to Canowindra 110, Molong 85.
Molong made a strong comeback, winning the junior boys' league in a thrilling match decided after the buzzer.
They also narrowly defeated Canowindra in open boys' volleyball, junior quiz, various basketball matches, and opens softball.
The canteen staff kept everyone fueled with amazing food throughout the day.
After a hearty lunch, Canowindra pulled ahead with big wins in open mixed netball, senior boys' league, junior and senior netball, and league tag, ultimately securing the victory with a final score of 318 to 253.
Special thanks were given to the referees from Canobolas High School for their outstanding work and to all the staff members who contributed to the event's success.
Mrs. Berkrey, Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Balcombe, Mrs. Stuttle, Mrs. Nash, and numerous others were acknowledged for their efforts in organising, supervising, and supporting the day's activities.
