To commemorate this significant event, a Sydney director is producing a documentary titled "Australia Under Attack."
The film will be released on television and will feature Mr Swansborough's incredible discovery.
Mr Swansborough shared some insights about the documentary and his involvement:
"A director in Sydney is producing a documentary on my search for the aircraft that was launched over Sydney the night before the midget submarine attack," he said.
"The documentary is about how we went searching for the engine and found it."
He also recalled a significant trip related to his discovery, "I went to Japan about 20 years ago and met the pilot".
The search for the aircraft engine is a story Mr Swansborough has been part of for decades.
"I read the story about parts of the aircraft being found off the central coast, so I got a group of divers together and we went searching for it. We actually located the engine."
Mr Swansborough's career spans various exciting projects.
"I worked previously on the series 'Blue Water Dreaming,' which was a television series on Channel Ten. I was a freelance cameraman and worked for all the news media. I did a lot of underwater shooting, above-water shooting, and aerial shooting."
In addition to his work in media, Mr Swansborough spent about 15 years working with Greenpeace on their ships, the Arctic Sunrise and the Rainbow Warrior, and also did significant work in Papua New Guinea.
"I've been a cameraman since the age of 15, and I'm now 80 years of age," he said.
His adventures and passion for ballooning eventually led him to Canowindra.
