Impressive local all-rounder Jamie Austin has been named as Canowindra's Young Citizen of the Year.

"I'm pretty excited, very honoured and proud to be the Youth Citizen of the Year," he said at Sunday's Australia Day celebrations.

Jamie was captain of Canowindra High School for 2019. He completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award which included community volunteering.
"I've just graduated high school and started a boilermaker apprenticeship in Forbes," he said.
"I'll be in Forbes on weekdays and home to work on the farm on the weekends."
Jamie donates blood when the blood bank is in Canowindra and has completed his Bronze Medallion and First Aid Course.
He has coached cricket teams, refereed Cowra soccer for the opens and juniors and is part of the Canowindra Hockey team that plays in the Cowra Competition where he was awarded Best and Fairest in 2019.
He was named Cowra Hockey Sportsperson of the Year 2019.
Jamie has played in the Parkes High School hockey competition and plays in the Canowindra Cricket Opens team. He represented Canowindra High School in soccer and cricket and was on the squash team that placed second in the state.
